Purpose of the Clan Society

The objectives and purpose of the Clan Society shall be to promote the history, heritage, traditions, and sentiment of Clan Donnachaidh, promote Scottish heritage and customs within the State of Florida, and to promote a spirit of kinship amongst members of Clan Donnachaidh throughout the world.

Why should I join?

If your heritage is Scottish and your family surname is contained within the list of names as written in the Clan Donnachaidh Society By-Laws, or any person interested in the Society’s objectives and purpose, subject to payment of the annual dues, you should join.

What do I get with membership?

• The opportunities to learn, discover, and celebrate your Scottish heritage.
• To join a like-minded group with the same objective; a clan family.
• An invitation to the yearly Annual Meeting and Family Dinner held in January each year.
• A bit of Scottish hospitality at the Clan Donnachaidh tents provided at the Scottish festivals held throughout Florida. Here you will meet other members and have a place to rest during the day, activities for the children, history books to provide research, and a wee snack at the "Donnachaidh Fayre" table. Also, you will join an enthusiastic group who will welcome you to participate in the march of the "Parade of Tartans" where you will experience pride in your clan, perhaps carry a tartan flag, and learn the Donnachaidh war cry.
• The "Donnachaidh Doings" newsletter, published four times per year.
• Access to information on the worldwide Clan Donnachaidh Society, the Clan Centre and Museum in Bruar, Scotland, the clan’s DNA Project and the Youth Membership Certificate.
• Leadership from an Area Director specifically for your area of Florida who is available to answer questions and to organize local activities during the year.
• The "Clan Family Prayer Circle" which has been established to join together to remember those in need of our thoughts and prayers.
